I patronize the Advance Auto store at 915 Wilkes-Barre Twp., Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18702 and have had at least two unpleasant dealings with one of the counter people. He is a real wise guy with an attitude. I can describe him as 55-26 years old, six feet tall, reddish brown hair with a partial beard. He has a real attitude to the point of argumentative and confrontational with customers. Not just me but others as well. Recently I purchased five quarts of Mobil One oil and received a free oil filter with it. When I got home I found out it was the wrong filter although this person looked it up on the computer and said it was the filter for my car's engine. A couple days later I returned to the store with the filter and told this individual it was the wrong filter. He stated that the filter did not come from that store and became argumentative to the point of accusing me of lying. After some back and forth he stated, "I will exchange it this time but not again". Somewhat shocked at his behavior and demeanor I departe the store. This individual has a real attitude. It seems there is little if any oversight by supervisory personnel in this store but this guy is by far the worst. Not portraying a good image for Advance Auto.

Poor customer service from Advance Auto store manager

Have had a bad experience at Howell Michigan Advance Auto Parts located on Grand River Ave. Bought a couple of ball joints and front wheel bearing assembly. Front wheel bearing assembly was not needed and I brought the part back unopened. Bill the manager says I can have a refund when he gets the money. Called their corporate office and was told it may take a day or two to get my money back from the store. Stopped by the next day when I was in town and I am told by Bill the manager that he will call me when he has my money and that I cant just walk in and ask for my refund. then he adds, I don't have any money to give you and your check has to clear our bank first. This is after Kevin, an upper manager, Told Bill to refund my money to me. The check was cleared through an AFT with my bank. I belong to two local car clubs and have reported this situation to fellow club members. Next will be a complaint lodged with the BBB. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE, IT IS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE,TIME, OR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU WILL RECEIVE.

Bought a crankshaft sensor and it stopped working and tried to exchange it for a new one because on receipt says limited warranty and bought it on 5/04/18 less than 6 months ago. Went to jackson nj Store #07527 manager Pete said i cant and gave me no reason other than no. Couldnt even tell me how the limited warranty worked either just want my vehicle running again

store at 306 SW State Route 7 Blue Springs Mo. 64014, I went into store and several employees are leaning on counter talking. I have a brake line from a 1982 Corvette that is too short for my street rod I am building, Man named Randy asked me what I need. he informs me he does not have the time to search for a longer hose for me. At this time I have spent lots of money at this store having built several jeeps, farm equipment and more. If this simple employee has nothing better to do than talk and cant help customers I will gladly take my business elsewhere. Auto Zone was more than happy to help me find a hose that would fit. smiled and asked if they couls help me with anything else. my new parts store.

I will never shop at another advanced auto again,your store in ludington michigan gives me the wrong parts all the time,thank god for media ,i will be posting negitive comments everywhere,you lost a very loyal costemer,i bought a pair of brake calibers from your store last week and they would not take them back do to moister got on them and they said they were rusty,but i appreciate corperet for calling another store and getting my refund back thank you,but like i said people are going to here what kind of buissness you have,you need to get this problem fixed in ludington michigan

Yep I bought calipers there too. Dam things had the same stamp on them as the ones that came off. Couldn’t coax them on with a three pound hammer

3rd time coming in to this store, employees on there phone or sitting down , talking among each other. I have to see who will help me ... When i pay with debit card and return items not needed, i ask for cash back and alway get an opposite answer then what the return policy says right next to them.

I have recently been scammed from ‘Quality Used Engines.’ I have recently ordered a motor from them, with an active warranty. However, the engine that they have sent was Lock and could would start when installed.

They may offer cash back for debit card if they have enough in the cash register, otherwise its debit. Why are you asking for cash back if you paid for debit otherwise.

Why not pay for cash in the beginning instead of going in looking for a hassle? I know what the sign says as I had the same problem once but since most people pay by card they don't always have enough cash on hand in register at times.

The last seven times in a row was overcharged sometimes double the price on the Shelf had to argue with cashier to go look at the price on the Shelf I was correct every time was told they were going to check all the barcodes in the store every time last time what should have been $75 they attempted to charge me 150 went across the street to O'Reilly's purchase the exact same items for $75 no problem

update: so I sent my son to the Salem OH store to pick up 2 separate online orders today (4/26/18), I sent him with the order numbers (9099**** and 9098****) for both orders, and he was told they couldn't find either order that I had ordered several hours earlier in...

I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up; the store at 2842 E State St, in Salem Ohio is being managed by an individual name Chip who has to be the absolute worst representation of an employee for the Advance Auto Parts Company in my professional opinion… Chip was not only rude and not very helpful with my missing online order pick-up, but as I was leaving the store, he had the audacity to call me an *** just as I had stepped out onto the concrete sidewalk in front of the store… when I heard what Chip had said behind my back, I turned around and walked right back into the store and confronted him, I asked him what he thought gave him the right to call me “a paying customer” an *** and then I said that I wanted to speak to the manager, Chip sarcastically replied that he was the manager and that he could do whatever he wanted in his store, and he then stated that if he wanted to he could even throw me out of his store, I laughed at him and said that I would love to see him try (as I clearly had at least 100 pounds and 6 inches over him), and then I asked him what his name was, he arrogantly pulled his jacket to the side to reveal the name “Chip” without even saying a word, at which time I told him I would be reporting this incident to the corporate office… this is a perfect example of power going straight to some one’s head, as Chip clearly has a Napoleon complex to compensate for his very short stature, and ironically Chip seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder when dealing with paying customers… I’m not sure if Chip just treats online order customers this way, or if he treats all the customers he deals with in this manner, but I know I can’t be the only person who has complained about this individual… I don’t care if I was the absolute worst customer to have ever walk into that store, I will admit that I was obviously upset because my order was missing and I had wasted a hour of my time to drive there to pick up my order (a half hour each way), and I definitely expressed my displeasure to Chip when he said “without an order number, I can’t help you, so just drive home and get it, and then come back”… really, that’s how you deal with an upset customer??? I have previously been a store manager in the automotive parts industry, and regardless of what I may have said or done during our interaction prior to me attempting to leave the store, professionalism dictates that Chip had absolutely no right to call me an *** or treat me the way he did… Chip is without a doubt the absolute worst example of customer service I have come across in a very long time

interesting thread posted here i came to read reviews about advance but many comments from both sides on this thread looks like the original poster should send his wife in to fight his battles now since he did not go back and sent his son in and that didnt work and likes to call peoples names looks like he got what he wanted garbage in garbage out we call his type keyboard warrior where i work also my shift key for caps don't work so please whoever do not gig me on that issue

To pick up an order you must bring an ID and the order number, that is stated on their website. Did you get a confirmation order that said the order was complete??

If so did you bring that with you. Since you are so tall and so smart do you not own a smart phone that you could bring up the email to show him. There is obviously 2 sides to this story and in this day and age you sound like a bully. That is my opinion.

So call corporate since its an online order and give the same treatment you gave him and see what happens. Good luck

Per usual if someone doesn’t agree 100% they MUST be an employee. Honestly for one so tall you’re suffering from oxygen starvation.

First, you have to be a good customer. If he waited to call you a name then YOU were being an *** It’s ok to admit it. You could have had a bad day and took it out on a be first servant you saw. Secondly, as with ANY online business, it’s all online and no one at the store level is going to be able to do much.

I see your online ordered item wasn’t there, well that’s NOT the stores fault. They have to wait just like you did. They cannot make the delivery driver move any faster. It’s quite clear you were impatient and frustrated and that you took your frustration out on the employee.

Being a employee doesn’t make you NOT HUMAN which means that when YOU lash out they are being abused by you. And you expect them to just take it? Unrealistic. Get over it and move on because it’s a problem YOU initiated.

YOU chose to be a bully and someone called you on it nothing more.

You are acting like you did NOTHING to deserve being called a name and we ALL KNOW that is not the case. You can’t call them out without ADMITTING what YOU said and did.

No Refunds

This auto store is very shady when it comes to refunds. If you think you ever need a refund and not an exchange, do not buy here.

They just got me on a defective part that I had to buy somewhere else because I needed it right away. They issued store credit saying they were not able to put it back on my card. This same thing happened to me before and I did not shop there for five years. Looks like nothing has changed.

I will use the store credit and never go back again and of course tell every single person I can. Sears did these same tactics and you see how that has turned out.

Let me guess you paid for it on a card so they have to put it on the same way/card that is as used. Everyone is doing it.

Just because they cannot accommodate your situation doesn’t make them bad. If you had a receipt and the card it will go off thier system that night and then it’s between you and your bank.

I’m betting it was a debit card which is why you are so upset. Don’t be mad you chose the payment method not them.

I paid with a credit card and had receipt. Also paid mechanic to put the defected strut on and take it back off and put on the one I purchased from him. Bet you would be happy about that

Ok if its the original unit then they are supposed to replace with like for like. You circumvented that option by buying another unit elsewhere.

Consider yourself lucky you even got the merchandise card as that is not the policy. Defect is replaced with defect, if after th 2 or 3rd time then at least at my store they will refund you.

You chose to go and buy another. They did nothing wrong--read the policy that is clearly posted in every store.

If you have a reciept they have to give you the refund the way it was paid. If no receipt then they give you a store credit or another part(the part is at there discretion if you replaced it more than 2 times)

I have never had an employee take my oil or dump it for me. Its your job to do it.

Do you want them to change it in your car for you too. They take oil to recycle, which means you bring it to them and YOU dump it in the tank.

I was at your store on Bob Wallace in Huntsville Alabama and in the last few days I have spend hundred of dollars there and I bought a fuel filter and they gave me the wrong one I was under neat the car no gas coming out of the line to get in the knew filter he assumed if it smell like gas then I must have use it all he had to do is turn it over and shake it to see where gas coming out no he didn't do that he said in a very rude voice I can't give u a refund and walk away I need answers please his name is George I put the filter in the garage can in the front I will not be using your part store again and thanks

You attempted to install it, you admit it yourself. Whether gas came out of line or not, you still attempted to use it.

You should not get a refund.

From out of town, went in to buy some DEF fluid for my rig. Told this older lady Stacey behind the counter what I needed.

Stacey said no, we don't carry that but you can try Walmart across the street. So I walked around the store a bit and their it was sitting on the shelf. I took the box of DEF fluid back to the counter and she rudely rolled her eyes and said. You want it or not?

I don't know what was up her *** but she had an attitude. If I'm ever in this town again would I stop at this Advance Auto @Spring Mills, Probably yes.

Would I ever have this rude clerk named Stacey wait on me probably not. She is clueless and her personality really blows.

Perhaps she did not honestly know that it was there. You stated she was older, they can make mistakes, perhaps she was working because a younger millenial did not show up and she was covering for them.

Or maybe she was new and or part time did not know the layout of the store yet. Either way she tried to help by referring you to Walmart but I guess that was not good enough so you take it to post here on the internet.
