Truck is parked and now throwing misfiring codes and they claim it wasn't due to the spark plus being sold to me that were not the right ones.

Preferred solution: My truck properly fixed for all their messing up and then the rentals I have had to pay for to keep going.
User's recommendation: Go somewhere where the parts counter actually knows about vehicles.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Advance Auto customer service has ALWAYS been bad!
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Someone with a brain finally saw the case and claimed they'd send the refund they claimed they sent two months ago.
An expensive tow home and return to the store showed the alternator was bad on their tester. But..., they no longer have an alternator for my vehicle (older Mercedes diesel) in their system. So..., they refunded me. But the refund went to a card that is no longer valid and it did not go to my new card number (same bank/account, different card number).
Repeated calls to corporate and they claim that it can take 3 months to come back to them (in this day of computerized ACH's and such, this is complete bollocks!), then they'll refund me in another way. So I'm out the money for this "lifetime" (made in China rebuild, so "lifetime" just means the lifetime of the *** rebuild) AND have to fork out ANOTHER $200 for one from Napa. The manager at my bank wrote a letter that they've checked my account and it has had no transfers, returns, etc., in the amount that Advance claims they refunded.
Advance corporate doesn't care, they're just glad that they got my money and will never refund me. I've shifted to buying my own and parts for customers vehicles from other sources now.
- Usually have some percentage off
- Speed perks
- Attrocious customer service
Preferred solution: Actually refund what they claimed they refunded for a part
User's recommendation: Go to their competitors. Better prices, better parts and honor warranties

Preferred solution: Even and them to stop trying to Tow vehicles. One way trailers from Uhaul. It's a scam. They tried to tow my vehicle because I didn't wash it in my neighborhood Kings Rd.
User's recommendation: Buy online from somewhere else, if I can't repair my vehicle. Don't go to a mechanic because you know the tome.

Verified Reviewer | North Hollywood, CaliforniaReporting an Employee Mistake - Incorrect Antifreeze Product
I am writing to report an incident that occurred at one of your store locations, which has resulted in a significant inconvenience and financial loss on my end. I recently visited your Advance Auto parts store # 09619 on 10/06/2023 to purchase some antifreeze for my vehicle Unfortunately, I was given the wrong product by one of your employees Andrew H.
The employee at the store provided me with a different antifreeze product.
At first, I thought that it might have been a system error, but upon closer inspection, I realized that the product I was handed was not what I had requested. It was clear on the desktop computer that I was supposed to receive DEXCOOL, as per my vehicle's requirements.
Regrettably, I proceeded to use the antifreeze provided by your store. This decision has led to serious damage to my vehicle's engine. I had to take my car to a dealership to flush the engine and repair the damage, incurring substantial expenses in the process.
I believe that this mistake was due to an oversight on the part of your employee, and it has had a significant impact on my finances and my trust in Advance Auto Parts.
I understand that mistakes can happen, but this particular error has had severe consequences. I kindly request that Advance Auto Parts take responsibility for the damages incurred and reimburse me for the costs associated with repairing my vehicle. I have attached the repair bill, which outlines the expenses for your reference.
Additionally, I would like to suggest that Advance Auto Parts review its inventory management and employee training procedures to ensure that such mistakes do not occur in the future. It is crucial that customers can trust your products and services.
I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and a swift resolution to the issue.
Please let me know the process for submitting a reimbursement claim and any further information you may require from me. You can reach me at gaprelians@***.com to discuss this matter further.
Thank you for your attention to this issue, and I look forward to a timely resolution.
Sincerely,
Serly Gaprielian

Verified Reviewer | Paris, TennesseeSold wrong spark plugs
The $6,000 is wages and repair
Never again will I or would I stop at any advance auto parts store.
The sales person sold me 4 plugs that wasn't or never will be for my vehicle and 2 that were for my vehicle, even rang them up as 4@***x part number and 2@***x part number. I didn't know anything until I got home and installed them, started vehicle and was misfiring so bad the vehicle was shaking sounding like a Harley Davidson hitting a lick it ran for about 2 minutes and upon dieing all I heard was metal clanking. They towed my vehicle to their mechanic and I was notified of a $3,200 repair bill that advance isn't responsible for. If my vehicle has $3,200 worth of damage I'd think I would notice before hand.
You couldn't even hear it running before this crap. I have regular maintenance just had almost $2,000 worth struts, wheel bearings, tie rods done. But somehow I've ignored $3,200 worth of repairs??? That's pretty much a price of a engine so how in the world could I ignore or not notice something was wrong.?
If that were the case. But it's not every thing was fine until I purchased the spark plugs. They won't say what the repairs are or give me a diagnostic report I did get a sorry for you luck!!! And DM closed the case with corporate office, which they are useless anyway they just refer you back to the DM..
Have you had any progress with your claim? I have filed a claim with the BBB and a few other sources.
They have replied to my BBB complaint once and haven't heard anything from them in a week now. I've lost my job due to this and still a broke down vehicle sitting in my driveway.
- Close your doors is the only pro
Preferred solution: First and foremost an apology for stealing from me this company is no different than a thief. There's proof of your wrongdoing but act as if I did wrong.
User's recommendation: STAY AWAY!

On 11/29/23 I purchased a Diehard battery for $189.99, plus a battery fee and tax, from Advance Auto Parts store #09122 in Alachua, Florida. The battery was placed in a Mahindra C4005 tractor.
The battery worked for about 8 weeks, and then I noticed that it was not effectively holding a charge. I removed the battery from the tractor to put it on a battery charger, and in the process noticed that it had a small hole at the lower extremity, close to the corner, of one of the end sides. I returned the battery to the store from which I purchased it. Upon an extremely cursory examination of the battery, the store manager determined that the hole was caused by something from outside the battery, and therefore he would not refund my money or exchange for a new battery.
The casing is clearly melted where the hole is, but his claim was that some exterior force cracked the casing, causing battery acid to leak from the battery. The battery sits on a platform directly adjacent to the firewall of the tractor, with nothing that would have poked *** in it anywhere close to where it sits. My contention is that the casing had a crack in it when I purchased it, and the acid slowly leaked enough to cause the hole. I mentioned this to him to no avail.
I have pictures of both the damaged battery and the platform upon which it sat, as well as the receipt for the purchase, that I would gladly send you if you will tell me how to do that.
Thanks for your consideration of this issue. I have patronized this store for many years, and many dollars, and am hopeful that I will not have to switch my allegiance.

Advanced gave me the wrong box and won't take the item back
I bought a fuel injector. I decided I didnt need it.
I wanted to return it but the manager wont accept my refund, because they gave me the wrong box. They said it says duralast on it, and only autozone sells duralast items. The manager (an older Spanish speaking gentleman) yelled at me saying it belongs to autozone, and I didnt buy it here. I argued saying I did, and he did not want to hear it.
They said they see me in the system, however wont accept it because it came in the box they gave me.
The item is refurbished, and how they sold it to me shouldnt be my problem. Now Im stuck with an item I dont need
User's recommendation: Take photos everytime you buy an item.
The manager at the Metairie,LA Veterans Blvd location
I would like to make a complaint against Pete the manager at the advanced auto parts on veterans in Metairie Louisiana please someone give me a call back as soon as possible. I was walking out the door I was outside and I guess Pete the manager was leaving so I was saying I wouldnt even talking to him that every time I come in this place they change it he goes.
He turns around and says how about you dont come back How about Betty yet I go inside and tell them to put your name on the list of people not to come back I said well you can just go ahead and do that right now a total jerk.
There is only one person there that is friendly the rest of the people that work there are so unprofessional all they do is stand around and do nothing. They dont even offer to help you if you have a big order or heavy things its mind-boggling your employees need to be retrained .
User's recommendation: Don’t go to this store the employees are absolutely horrible !!!!
Beyond disappointed
This review is copied from my YELP review.
Im done with using advance auto. I had a horrible experience at a different location but was given coupons so figured I'd use them.
I needed new wipers so I placed an online order. The last time I did this I had no issues and assumed this time would go just as smoothly as the last. Not the case. The advance I usually go to which I never had any problems at didn't have the wipers I wanted in stock so I ordered from another location.
I went last night around 6pm to pick them up and have them installed, per the advertisement. I show up and unfortunately ordered from a different location a little ways from my home. I arrived around 640 and called to have them bring them out. A kid by the name of Cam answered the phone and explained to me that he was unable to install the wipers due to the time of my arrival.
Confused. I'm legit looking at a sign that advertises curbside and free installation, it doesn't state any timing. I search my email for pick up instructions, again, no mention of timing. I asked why this was, Cam jnformed me that it's strict policy that staff is unable to help customers after a certain time.
I asked if he was at least able to bring me my items to my vehicle. To my surprise, Cam informed me that he wasn't allowed to do that either! I left without my merchandise or my services.
I filed a complaint and received a call from management the following day. Peggie apologized and assured me that I could go at ANY time to pick up my items and have the services provided.
It is 1:24pm, per my outgoing call log I called at 1:04 to let the staff know I am outside and need assistance and though they said "ok" I'm still sitting here waiting.
Called after 20 min and was told "oh you're still waiting, you need to come inside and pick up your stuff."
Leaving again without both my merch and the services again. What an inconvenience and super unprofessional.

Verified ReviewerResolved: I wasn’t told that an $8 fee would be charged for shipping. Furthermore, the employee said, “it says so on your receipt.” Well, the receipt is given to one, after the fact!
Company resolved the issue.
The delivery date, Doug said, would be August 14. I found another store who had the brake hose I needed and bought it there. I called Doug to cancel my order, immediately, and he said Id have to come in for the refund on August 14th, when the hose was due to arrive.
Well, here I am, August 14th, I drove out to Advance Auto, the part never arrived and Doug tells me that because I didnt call and cancel the order, I have to lose $8 on my refund, due to shipping costs. I reminded him that I was never told about a non-refundable $8 and that on the phone the same day, he said the order could not be cancelled until August 14, the day it arrives!
Does not make sense!
Instead of arguing, I asked him if I could have an $8 store credit. He refused.
I would like to be refunded my $8 because Doug misinformed and mishandled the refund process, which cost me $8.
This guy, Doug, always has had a lack of knowledge or initiative to help, cross reference parts or even practice decent customer service by saying, I dont know or because Im not aware, I will ask someone who does know. On another occasion, Doug would rather correct me as to the difference between a brake hose and a brake line, as opposed to just getting me the parts I needed. So I get an argument, instead of service.
Aggravating!
Another instance, I called to ask for Champion spark plugs, specifically, and I was told (by an unknown female employee) that there were eight Champions in stock. When I arrived, there were no Champion plugs only Delco. I specifically told the lady that I wanted the Champion brand. This store is 10 miles one way!
I go here because its convenient and the closest auto parts store to me.
I will drive an extra 5 miles, from now on, to NAPA because I know the trip wont be wasted.
Im a frequent customer of this store and have spent a lot of money there. Its a shame that poor service, poor communication and lack of knowledge will steer me elsewhere.
- Price is fairly reasonable
- Poor customer service
Preferred solution: Shipping cost of $8 refunded due to employee’s mishandling and lack of knowledge.
User's recommendation: Know what you need because the counter help and customer service is poor.

I feel your pain..! They put the wrong radiator cap on my car and messed up my engine and told me to send them the invoice from my mechanic and they’ll contact me within 24 hours and it’s all a lie..!
They never sent the complaint to corporate.! It’s the employees sending fake emails pretending to be corporate.
File an civil complaint..! That’s the only way you’re going to get compensation..!
