First you did say 4x4 correct? If so no matter how bad bearing gets, wheel cannot fall off unless the axle nut is removed. As to suing advance, as my district manager says, "tell 'em to sue away, Advance has plenty of money to fight 'em"

Advance Auto parts list limited lifetime

Advance Auto parts is full of crap. Bought a pair of the gold brake pads in 6 months they were gone. Ask about the limited lifetime which was overpriced anyway. they said through their manufacturer, that is there info not ours. Stop false advertising

If it tests bad or defective on their machine they must replace it with a new one as per the warranty. You could call Corporate and give them your receipt number and they will give you a code to give to store or else call them from store and let them handle it.

If you do not have receipt to prove you are original owner then you are out of luck.

If you are just looking for a refund, that is not what their warranty states.

They will replace as I said above. Either way receipt is need for proof of purchase

No people think it means they can get new parts on general wear items " break pads , spark plugs " . Alot of customers yell and scream till the counter person breaks down and warranties them .

Which is sad for the customer , or when customers think they are above store policy when it comes to returning non returnable items " electronic parts " and yell and scream about that .

Or they say we'll if you don't return it , I spend so much money here you will lose a customer . My question is does the same customer tell every other store they go to the same thing , when they are told no ?

Wow! What a horrendous experience.

All Advance Auto Parts stores are supposed to offer free battery testing, charging, and as long as it's not a Mercedes, BMW, or Corvette, or the battery is located inside the trunk or under a seat, or in at least one ford, behind a wheel, free installation on a battery purchased or warranted with them.

The number one reason for battery failure is heat. The number two reason is corroded terminals and/or wires. The number three reason is a bad alternator.

Cold is only a factor in really far northern areas in the US, and mountains.

If you live in a place where the winter might mean a sprinkling of snow and possibly ice for less than one combined month out of the year...yeah...cold isn't even a minor factor. If you live in place where the winter is longer and you routinely experience temperatures below freezing, then we talk about cold factors and higher cold cranking amps.

In places like the former, higher CCA is BAD. Higher CCA means more plates internally, which means higher internal temperature, which means bad battery quicker.

Just some info for the future.

Actually testing the acid is not even allowed by part corporations. Too much liability.

The electronic testers in fact DO recognize it as an issue and mark it bad due to low voltage, but only the external testers inside the stoee, not the portable units. And as a mechanic you already know that alternators can also be intermittent when first going bad. And that any time there is a charge issue the proper was is to disconnect the cables and use an external charger on slow charge to bring the battery up to 100%. You also know that batteries are usually killed by heat.

Both ambient temperature and internal temperature under a charge load.

Unfortunately word of mouth is worth zero these days when it comes to batteries.

All the battery manufacturers figured out that over 60% of all warranted batteries were coming back in tiptop shape and implemented testing requirements to stop it. Not the part stores.
