I have been a loyal customer of advance for 3 generations, About 3 months ago I purchased a Gear wrench set of 3/8 and 1/4 inch drive set of sockets and ratchets and also a complete set of Gear wrench ratchet wrenches pictured here. At what I believed was a very good deal seeing how they have a lifetime warranty.
A week ago I was replacing the plugs in my girlfriends Isuzu Trooper which I also purchased from Advance Auto. When I encountered one of the plugs had obviously been cross threaded by the previous mechanic,well to make a long story short the 3/8 drive ratchet gears stripped and became useless so I said no problem seeing how I have always had impeccable service and outstanding loyalty from Advance, I grab my broken 3/8 ratchet hop in my vehicle and off I go to my local Advance store at 6443 Ironbridge Rd Richmond Va. 23234. I walk in with a smile on my face and the confidence of years of awesome service and friendly people, I am greeted by Latino Gentleman I told him my issue, he then called his female supervisor who informed me was a warranty issue and ask me if I had a receipt,II informed them no, at that time he said loudly and I quote “FOR ALL WE KNOW YOU COULD HAVE FOUND THE RATCHET ON THE GROUND AND ARE JUST TRYING TO GET A NEW ONE” I being very embarrassed, thanked them and walked out the door.
I being totally humiliated,frustrated and angry to say the least,sat in my car with my broken ratchet in my lap and contemplating what to do, decided to go down the street to your competitor whom I won’t say and purchased another pack of Gear wrench 3/8,1/4 ratchets and was informed by the gentleman that receipt or not he would be glad to replace them if broken, because Gear wrench would replace it for him when turned in, he even offered to replace the broken ratchet I purchased from Advance, I declined his offer, as I believe Advance has such a relationship with Gear wrench also and will do the right thing and replace my 3/8 ratchet. As far as you employees with their rude and slanderous comments, I’m not sure that we will ever shop at Advance Auto Parts again. We most certainly will never shop at your Ironbridge store again.
The way I was treated was rude and very unprofessional and I would hope as a business owner myself their actions and comments will be corrected as not to lose future customers.
